CHAO PINHOLE® SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Breakthrough In Treating Gum Recession!
Scalpel-free, graft-free treatment for rejuvenating receding gums
Roman Dental Arts can correct your gum recession comfortably and conservatively
Early detection and treatment of gum recession is essential in maintaining overall health and teeth preservation.
When gum recession occurs, the root structure of the tooth becomes exposed. This means that tooth decay and other problems can affect the teeth along the gumline and beneath it. Since healthy gums are essential for a healthy mouth, getting gum recession treated is important for lasting dental wellness.

Dr. Roman answers questions about the Pinhole Technique
Gum recession refers to the loss of gum tissues along the gumline. This can occur as a result of periodontal disease (gingivitis, periodontitis, advanced periodontitis), the natural aging process, or abrasive habits when it come to brushing the teeth.
- Periodontal disease
- Genetic predisposition
- Agressive tooth brushing
- Inadequate or not enough preventive care
- Teeth grinding or clenching
- Crooked teeth or misaligned bite
- Body piercing in the lip or tongue
Traditional Gum Grafting
Tissue is taken from donor tissue or soft tissue grafts from the roof of the mouth.
Gums are cut to insert the grafted tissue
The gum tissue is closed with stitches
The surgical site heals in one to two weeks
While this traditional grafting treatment is effective, comparable results with better patient experience can be achieved through the Pinhole Surgical Technique.
Pinhole Surgical Technique
A tiny entry point is made in the area of the recessed gum tissue
A special dental instrument is placed in the hole to gently loosen the gum tissue and guide it into the correct position
Tiny collagen strips are placed through the pinhole and behind the gum tissue. The strips keep the gums in place, help your body generate more collagen tissue and promote healing.
No scalpel, no tissue grafts, no stitches
Absolutely love Dr. Roman and his staff. Having been to many dentists over the years, it is great to know I finally found one I can trust.
